If you’re in or around the Hillcrest area and looking to give your teeth some undivided attention, I’ve got just the plug for you.
I recently got my teeth cleaned and scaled at 📍 Smile Studio, located at Christian Village Centre on Old Main Road in Hillcrest, and I had the best experience. Miss J, the dental therapist (and a friend of mine) was well aware that I really wanted my teeth scaled and polished, but I was not looking forward to process – and the potential sensitivity afterwards. However, she quickly calmed me down.
From what I learnt, scaling is cleaning of the teeth to remove tartar build up, plaque and calculus. The polishing is then to remove extrinsic stains, smoothen teeth and brighten your personal set of pearly whites.
So, she started by taking photos of my teeth to show me what the situation was – and guess who has a wisdom tooth playing hide and seek!? After we discussed my dental health, she then started the scaling and polishing process.
To my surprise, it wasn’t bad at all. She was so gentle and I didn’t need any breaks. She’s so calm and knows exactly what she’s doing so you naturally feel more relaxed. Before I knew it we were done. I was of course concerned over the sensitivity you usually feel after you get your cleaning done, but my teeth were perfectly fine and I could eat or drink whatever I liked immediately after.
