‘Bridgerton’: Netflix drops season three part two trailer

Netflix and Shondaland shared the official trailer for the second part of Bridgerton season three on Monday 3 June.

FIRST LOOK: ‘BRIDGERTON’ SEASON THREE PART TWO

Bridgerton season three has been record-breaking so far. The first part of the third season garnered over 41 million views within the first four days, since it’s release on 16 May. This marked the largest debut in the series’ history, according to Netflix.

Season three follows the love journey of Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan). The season was divided into two parts, with each containing four episodes.

In the first part of season three, Penelope had finally given up on the crush she had with her friend Colin, after hearing his words about her last season. So, she has decided to enter the marriage market (more seriously) and take on a husband, who she hopes will provide her with enough independence to continued her double life as Lady Whistledown.

“But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder,” reads the synopsis of the series.

“Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly,” reads the synopsis.

However, it’s not that simple. Penelope and Colin’s sister Eloise (played by Claudia Jessie), are in the middle of a rift. Eloise is not happy about Penelope’s double life.

Part two of season three picks up at the cliff-hanger of part one, where Colin asks Penelope to marry her. In the trailer of part two, Colin takes Penelope home to his family, who all seem to be ecstatic, except for Eloise.

Showrunner Jess Brownell said that there is a natural structure to the eight episodes and it has been done in every season.

“There is a natural structure to eight episodes, and we’ve done it actually every season, that Episode 4 ends on a big world-shifting midpoint,” said showrunner Jess Brownell to Tudum.

“Viewers know that there’s an extra thing dangling over Penelope and Colin that will provide conflict going into the back half,” Brownell continued.
